  • Releases, Events, and More from February!

Greetings, Denizens of Earth—Middle or otherwise!

Everything keeps getting awesome-r…and we couldn’t do it without you!

    SHOP

Can't make it to our Brooklyn bookstore? We’ve taken vintage virtual! Our online shop has been expanded with over 500 science fiction, fantasy, and vintage pulp titles of every stripe. Whether you're a Trekkie or a Bond girl, singularityshop.com has you covered.

FEATURED ITEM OF THE MONTH: Each newsletter, we’re keeping our eyes (and eye stalks) on a special selection from the Singularity & Co. shop that we think you’d geek out for. This month, we’re putting on the Rocklove Asteroid Necklace: Each pendant is cut from black tourmaline crystals known for their protective qualities—what with recent Russian events involving a fiery projectile from outer space, we think this is the safest way to keep rocking in our free world.

DOOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH: Visitors to our Brooklyn Bookstore will notice that we feature a weekly quote from the greatest minds of sci fi on our chalkboard door. We’re giving you a taste of the blackboard’s best with our Quote of the Month feature!

This month, it’s from Arthur C. Clarke: “Our lifetime may be the last that will be lived out in a technological society.”

Thanks to our beloved Rocketeer Sarah for reminding us that great wisdom just can’t be erased!

    PUBLISHING

Our rescue mission continues in March with the publication of Muriel Jaeger's 1927 novel "The Man With Six Senses," originally published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf's Hogarth Press (we’re in good company). In her time at Oxford, Jaeger (1892-1969) was part of "The Mutual Admiration Society," a group of innovative female writers that included the great mystery novelist Dorothy L. Sayers. As a writer exploring the frailty of humanity in the age of science, Jaeger draws a fascinating love triangle between a man of reason, a modern woman and a frail fellow battling that timeless question: What to do when you're in love and struggling with extrasensory mutant powers?

On the event horizon, our next adventure in digital publishing draws Dr. Strangelove parallels with a twist. Originally published at the height of Cold War paranoia, our upcoming e-book release promises "a world gone mad and on the brink of total atomic destruction!" We're so in.

    EVENTS

This February, we had way too much fun hosting Peter V. Brett's book launch for his fantastical The Daylight War and a celebration of Scott Corvo's dark noir Spiders & Flies. We've hosted book signings and appearances from acclaimed authors, writers and poets like Lois McMaster Bujold, Lev Grossman and Stephen Burt in our shop. Reach out to us on our website and let us know if you want to see someone in the flesh.

Our monthly reading series in collaboration with Tor.com, "I, Reader," saw its most popular night yet with LUST FOR GENRE, bringing out a passionate crowd to hear saucy and scintillating tales. Stop by for the next "I, Reader," which sees genre greats read by contemporary voices in the art of fiction.

We also love to plan events around our readers! Whether it's a movie you're dying to see up on our big screen or your favorite space band performing live from our childrens' book-loft, let us know what entertainment you'd like us to replicate.

We can’t wait to hear from you—even if it’s in Klingon.
