RedDwarf thanks for the post Re: Fairly new & a tad confused

admiral.ironbombs replied to the topic Re: Fairly new & a tad confused in the forum. The actual downloads for the books would be under Rescue! > Rescued Books. The list itself doesn't show when the books were posted, but when you click on the title or cover image, it'll show when each file type was updated, which is a rough indication of what month the book is for. (There were a couple of delays, such as Superstorm Sandy pushing Judgment Night back from October to November 1st.)
Also, you have to be signed into the site to get the list to generate, otherwise you won't be able to get into the release section to download them.
There haven't been as many site updates when new books come out, but there is a regular notification method for updates and releases. A monthly newsletter was implemented earlier in the year, which has info on that month's e-release, and is usually sent out a week or so after the book's files are uploaded. If you haven't been getting it, you can go to the front page and sign up for the mailing list (white box on the right, halfway down the page).
A record for which ones we've already downloaded would be nice. I've just been dumping them into a folder and syncing new ones over as I download them.

Hello, I'm a relatively new Singularity SaveTheSciFi subscriber, with two suggestions.
First, I received the email newsletter the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the release of two new eBooks (I joined over the holidays). I was curious, though: do subscribers not get a specific email notice letting them know when a new book is released?
The newsletter is a brand new feature; that's the first one to come out so far. I can't speak for Ash but I'm hoping it'll become an annual update to keep people in the loop.

Judgment Night[/i].
I've been moving them around the old-fashioned way---connect to computer, drag-and-drop .MOBI files into my Kindle folder for Andorid, and sync .epubs for iOS, both of which has been getting them across with covers, except for A Plunge Into Space. In my Kindle app on my Nexus I can see covers for Judgment Night, Mr Stranger's Sealed Packet, and Doomed Planet, which are the only three I've got on there at the moment. I honestly don't remember if The Torch had a cover image or not. (Oddly I can't get Judgment Night to display a cover on iOS, but it's not like I use the thing to read books on.)
So it could be related to "send to my Kindle" but I'm not 100% sure. Are you sending the .pdfs or .mobi versions?

admiral.ironbombs replied to the topic Re: I'm already starting to have backlog here in the forum. This was actually the first Kickstarter I backed that passed its funding and had a successful startup; Kickstarters being Kickstarters, I'm cautiously pessimistic and consider them a gamble until they really take off. And S&Co. has really taken off. There's that pretty awesome little store that I'll make sure to hit up if I ever make it to New York. And there's the half-dozen rescued Sci-fi ebooks so far, a diverse spread with a lot of surprises -- you weren't kidding when you said "save the sci-fi," the titles are pretty obscure. (The only ones I'd read were two of the three C.L. Moores, and the only other one I'd heard of was Elleander Morning. And that only because I saw the title in some best-of lists on Goodreads.)
So, thumbs up, S&Co. Very impressed so far!

admiral.ironbombs replied to the topic Re: Status update? in the forum. That's actually how I know about her -- the double with Alpha Centuari or Die. I haven't read Legend of Lost Earth yet, but I'll get to it eventually.
(Those doubles were her only two SF novels; apparently most everything else she wrote were children's books or pulp-era romances, under the name Hope Campbell. Your SF trivia for today.)

On their FaceBook page they sayIt's in proofing now, definitely within a week or so. Plus the 4th is progressing nicely as well.
In case you didn't see it in their Twitter feed (hidden among all the updates about the brick-and-mortar store opening), there was this tasty hint about the fourth release:
we're very focused on WOMEN WRITERS. See the book after next...
Gentlemen, start your speculation.

admiral.ironbombs replied to the topic Re: The Torch in the forum.I haven't started it yet, but I'm really looking forward to it... hits two of my interests, pulp and post-apocalyptic. That it was only published twice (the serial in Argosy, and a Prime Press print run of 3,000 in 1948, I can see why few copies would survive to today) makes it a lot more interesting.
Definitely glad Singularity is here to rescue these old stories from the dustbins of history. As in, seriously rare books that I'd never heard of before. I hadn't expected them to put this much time and effort in tracking down such rare volumes -- wasn't sure what to expect, other than seeing all those Ace Double scans, but man, they've delivered. Makes me giddy to wonder what the upcoming third release will be.
